What we have here is the Hoffmann & Novague R200, a prototype that was designed to be the spiritual successor of the classic Skoda 130 RS, delivering some track time just for the sake of marketing.
The new promotional video depicts the model that was first showcased back in April – as the concept was on display at the DOX Center for Contemporary Art in Prague, Czech Republic – and now the model has decided to stretch its tires on the asphalt of the Slovakiaring Circuit in Slovakia. The manufacturer has depicted the R200 as a modern recall of the racing Skoda 130 RS from the 1980s, with the concept actually taking as its basis the first generation of the Audi R8 supercar. The exterior has been wrapped in an aluminum body that used the R8 chassis, meaning they also took for granted the V8 engine with 430 hp (316 kW), which has been linked to a traditional manual transmission. And the motivation is enough for the R200 to jump to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds.
Without any sorts of confirmation tough, the local media has been doing the rounds with Hoffmann & Novague allegedly getting ready to manufacture about 30 units of the R200, each with a cool starting price of about 281,000 dollars and with production expected to be launched during the first part of next year. The R200 was envisioned as a celebration of the Skoda 130 RS rally car’s 40th birthday – back then it had under the hood a 1.3-liter engine with 142 hp (104 kW) and 101 lb-ft (137 Nm) of torque.
