Hi

I am thinking of removing the silencer from my SLK...

How much more noise from the exhaust would it add? And is it worth doing etc?

Thanks

Follow exactly to update: ‘Usercp’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. Your profile is NOT updated in your ‘personal garage’.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.

Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on your car). You must update your profile with vehicle info and your location and post an introduction first.

in the states, they are called mufflers and you have 2
you can also remove your cats but then you can't pass your MOT

Removing these mufflers will it make enough difference in sound? I've got a 250CDI
removing things will not let you pass your MOT or similar inspection

Not sure if it's the same engine as the W204 C250 CDI but I replaced the exhaust with no middle resonator just a cat back straight Y pipe and two small sports silencers to quad exits and there wasn't that much of a change in noise, it sounded nicer and I had a "screamer" put in by a really good garage. It sounded better than stock but IMO changing an exhaust on a diesel just isn't cost effective compared to petrol. Piecha do a system but I've not heard it on the diesel.

Much better to spend your money on a remap and maybe just get the AMG diffuser and some quad tip trims for now.

If you're in Brum then pop down to MSL performance in small heath, they did mine on the C class and should be able to give you a quote. Tips are pretty cheap.

The AMG diffuser is only £70 but for the real AMG spoiler it's like £400 unpainted so might want to look at a copy but I don't know the quality- was looking for one myself.

The whole cat back system was about £350 but I didn't get a breakdown of the individual costs, can't be too much though, and it you don't mind copies then ebay is your friend. Loads of cheap quad tips on there.
