I have a 99 SLK 230 with 82000 miles on it and before I screw things up I thought I would ask how to change the upper Serpentine belt. I have never done this before and I am new to this model . Dont want to strip threads and such so I thought I would ask how to do it. Any help appreciated.

Welcome from New Hampshire, changing a belt isn't something you can explain to some one. You will get more help using the manual where you have a picture to reference.

Changing the belt cant be rocket science. I just need to know which pulley do you loosen to put slack in the belt to remove it. I dont have any manuals so I dont have any pictures for reference. There are no other posts on the web site telling how to change it so I ask the general public here how to do it.

if it takes more than 15 mins, you're drinking too much. The idler wheel on the left is spring loaded (tentioner). put a socket on it, pry up a little, slip belt off. Just make sure you loop it all back the same way. It will go around the supercharger in both directions only one of them works. If you put it on the other direction, it will eat the belt. Ask me how I know.
Take a quick picture of the belt BEFORE you start. Get a good view of all the "over" and "under" the pulleys.

Changing slk230 serpentine belt
1) Take out the Fan by pulling out the pins
2) Make way for the aux water tank
3) check the middle star allen & losen it you may use No 14 close range
4) tighten backthe star allen screw &put it back together the correct alignment of the belt
5) spray the new serpentine belt with Belt dressing before you starts the Engine & enjoy your ride.,

Hi, you dont loosen any pulley to replace the belt you need 8 MM. wrench to pry the tension-er pulley, to allow you to replace the belt, because of the location of the tension er pulley I made a tool to make things easier, I took a 8MM wrench and welded to a large screw driver for leverage the rest is easy, usually there should be a diagram in the radiator support or somewhere in the engine compartment but the 8MM tool is the only thing you need to pry the tensioner pulley

There are two belts, do both tensioner pulleys use 8MM?
