My air pump isn't running at start up, however, it runs when I test it out of the car. I'm getting a P0410 and P0412 CEL code. the K40 relay for the pump looks clean, no sign of the points being burned. The check valves are opening under vacuum, so it all seems to be related to the pump not running. Any ideas for what to look for now?

The problem with the K40 relay is very rarely with the relay itself, but with where the base is soldered to the PCB. Even though the solder joint might look good, it's often worth just re-flowing it to ensure good connections.

UPDATE - P0410 Secondary Air Pump fixed

Update! Problem solved after touching up 3 questionable looking solder joints on the K40 relay. CEL is out, SAI pump is running, all is well in my SLK world!
