So it turns out I have this week off, and I decided I would like to see the sights around Scotland, specifically trying to do the NC500 (as much of it as time permits). Hopefully, I will leave tomorrow morning, so I should be in Inverness around evening. If any of you are on the way and feel like having a pint one evening, I'd love to meet you. (fist round on me 0:) ) Of course, should anyone want to join up for the tour (or a part of it), that'd be great.

I do, however, have one last issue that I can't seem to figure out. Adapting the headlights. I looked around the forums, I tried all official and unofficial web sites I could think of, and all I can find is information for UK citizens coming on the continent, and the only adapters I could find to buy where for UK cars as well.

I don't have the stock headlights anymore, so using the switch that was on them is no longer viable (changed them to this: https://www.europetuning.com/pieces-tuning-mercedes-slk-r171/36490-europe-tuning-devil-eyes-chrom-mercedes-slk-r171-00548-3700890603653.html)

Hopefully, some of the UK people know more about this and can help me out. Are there shops around Calais or Dover that have this adapters? Is there a place I can go to when I get to the UK? Is there somewhere more information for people who want to take their mainland car for a trip around the UK?

Thank you for the help, and see you around!

I think it more likely that Europeans would know where to get correctors for the UK.

I understand that the 171 had a white(?) lever behind the headlight for this adjustment.
It pushes left/right.
Never checked myself.

Here's a link to our NC500 last year: https://www.slkworld.com/united-kingdom-region/433873-north-coast-500-20th-23rd-september-2017-a-6.html#post3848225

And a site organised by Gareth: https://sites.google.com/view/nc500grandtour

If @DAVIETHESCAFF or @Garfalls are about, they may touch base with you.

NC500 is a great route.
Enjoy your trip.

Thanks @Avel Du.

So after spending most of the day on the phone with British authorities, I can confirm they have no idea about this regulation. I called DVLA, DVSA and MoT. After I was told to call back to DVSA from the MoT, someone there found something about this regulation on the AA website. :D

Anyway, after some more calls and inquiries, turns out they sell these adapters on the ferry. So, i booked a ferry. :) I'll be coming over on the 15th not the 14th as originally planned, but it's all confirmed now. Looking forward to it.

I was going to suggest that you may be able to find something like these:
www.ebay.co.uk/p/Eurolites-92160-Headlight-Deflectors-Headlamp-Converters-Beam-Adaptors/1934442962?iid=200458843487&chn=ps
but it seems you are sorted.
Enjoy your trip.
Thanks. Yup, that's exactly what I'm getting. The problem was that I could only find them to order, and the earliest delivery was late August...

I tried looking for the switch @Avel Du is talking about, but no way my hand will fit in there. It barely fit with stock headlights, but with the LED controllers for the DLRs there's no chance.
