Yes, 2003 SL350. 350 has standard springs not air suspension, but yes, air suspension is about £1000 per corner if it fails.....
Ave. 24mpg general running around, otherwise not that different from the SLK until you get into SL55AMG territory.

Had a SLK350 (R172) 45,000km and had no problems. Currently driving a 2017 SL400 (R231) and no problems yet.

Unfortunately, I don't monitor my fuel costs - I need it regardless of what it is costing me. I used the SLK to commute to work and seem to recall getting 8or9 L/100km with it. Driving my SL around locally it is about 11 and on the open road on long trips about 9.

Based on the cost of a 3 year service package I bought for my car and the cost of a recent service MB quoted (4 year oil change) for my wife's B class- there is not a significant difference in maintenance......YET ...hoping that the more modern ABC is more reliable than the old ones but I will buy an extended warranty if I still have the car when the 3 year warranty expires.

Just got back from a run to Ireland (1500 miles) and took note of my consumption for this thread. Got just under 31mph with very mixed driving speeds. They only have 95RON in Ireland and I could feel the difference - never thought about it before but the car is happy being back on a diet of BP Ultimate.

I am also very interested in peoples experience of the SL, especially those who have swapped from an SLK. I will be test driving an SL400 at the weekend. Not sure if it will be a bit too big. Some amazing discounts if you can afford new especially looking at the crazy prices MB Hull want for 2 year old examples.
Cheers, Mark

Picking up mid September. Just need a buyer for the SLK now.

Yes, had driven an SL500 a couple of weeks ago. Was in contact with their Grimsby branch through Carwow re an iridium silver 400, when the VIP invitation arrived. The only slight downside was that I couldn’t have the new reg. not too worried as I usually keep my cars 10+ Years (as long as they are reliable) and for over £22k off list?

Just completed a 4 day tour of Scotland. The SL performed faultlessly and averaged over 35mpg according to the trip? really impressed.
There were a couple oh hairy moments on the narrow highland roads though.
