Hello All, need some suggestions/ideas.

A mechanic mistakenly left out the white rubber shield/cover for the driver's side (USA cars) engine mount during its replacement. Is it absolutely necessary to have this on or could it be left out if it is too much of a hassle to bring it back to the mechanic to have them diassemble the mount and reinstall the cover.

The reason why also it is a hassle because the mechanic may have damaged the white rubber cover and I am not sure how it could be replaced without ordering an entire new engine mount.

Any ideas or experiences? Appreciate the help.

It's a 1999 SLK230 kompressor.

The mechanic should stand behind his work. He should make all repairs correctly, if not he should do it again at his cost. Things are on the car for a good reason and when repaired should be the way they were before repair.

If it was my car, it would be going back to the mechanic to get fixed properly. Another reason to DIY. :)
