Hello All,

I have a 1999 SLK 230 WDB 170. When putting the roof top back up after the top has locked in place and you're waiting for the windows to go back in place it starts to leak hydraulic fluid from the ram in the in the roof. I am guessing there is an electrical switch that turns off the hydraulic pump when the roof has locked in and that this switch is malfunctioning.

Any clues as to where this switch is please? Or other ideas?

Thank you

Nick

Time to overhaul the Ram but usually best to do all Rams at the same time ;)

There's two switches that determine when the roof has finished closing. THey are located either side of the front of the roof. You'll need to take the roof lining out to get at them. That's quite an easy job.
Once you have the lining off, you can check to see whether the switches are fully closed when the roof latch is activated.

Hi
Good day

Just for your info,

Just today, I too have problem with the roof.
Suddenly there was oil leak from the roof.
It is because the locking latch is leaking.

To repair DIY is cheap due to the "O" ring in the hydraulic cylinder
but require a bit of work which I have done before for another SLK member.

Do you see any leak from your roof??????
If there is leak > DO NOT OPERATE THE ROOF.

The "O" ring is cheap but most of the seller in eBay or Amazon
do not sent to my country.
Anyone know where else to buy?
or
will any "O" of the same size for hydraulic machine will do the job?

Anyway, luckily, I just got my another new car, a SUV today
so i can just take my own sweet time to repair.

Thank you & have a nice day
