Convince me, and sell me on the Windrestrictor. I won't buy one just because they are a sponsor of this sight, I will only buy one because they are the best available. So have it, and give me examples of why the Windrestrictor or another brand is the correct choice for my R170. I know other brands are available but since I can't afford to buy every brand to test which one I think is best, I'd like peoples opinion of which one they think is best and why.

I can set you up a poll if you wish. Let me know.

I have a r171 and an oem plexi windscreen. You can search our forum and other mb forums for opinions.
Speaking for our sponsor, they offer the most complete line of etched (custom and desired) and illuminated windscreens, also offer our members discounts, offered their product as a Ride of the Month grand prize. They have 1st class support and service.

Some members who have the Windrestrictor are fastdawg1 who has a custom made with with his 'fast' avatar and curro101, the winner of our March ROTM.

If you want to private message anyone, you need 9 more posts so here is how to get those very fast:

If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.

Thanks for the question Tahoe!

1. Our product doesn't yellow or fade in the sun.
2. We're laser etched and can reproduce ANY picture you send us. ANY.
3. We come in 8 different brilliant colors.
4. We've dealt to over 40+ different nations
5. Our bracketing system eliminates shaking and rattling inside of the vehicle that you may experience with cheaper models. Also, it holds it in place firmly for our customers' safety. Again, a luxury many cheaper models can't afford.
6. We're made from Acrylite, which is the strongest material for wind blockers on the market.
7. We actually DO restrict wind. You'll feel a difference of approximately 50% in the cockpit.
8. Our WindRestrictors are an easy install that most people can handle in about 90mins.
9. We come with a lifetime warranty.
10. Right now we're having a sale that can save you 15% with code July.

If you have any other questions or need further proof please don't hesitate to message me.

Apart from the fact that Windrestrictor will work tirelessly to ensure that you receive the product you want, to your spec., are friendly and efficient when dealing with them, and make a top quality item, that ticks all the boxes of the ten points that they have replied with, and they look really good, I can't think of a reason not to buy a cheaper alternative.

And yes, before you ask, I have one fitted to Mabel. :)

I went the other direction and went oem. Could not be more pleased with the overall look, function, and fitment.

With patience and a keen eye (quick typing fingers) one can be found and purchased at a reduced cost.

Then I would get the best……which I believe is the windrestricter. I looked at these long and hard. I also believe my slk is only getting quality or I wait. I chose oem because its stock. Also I am not a big fan of graphics or lettering, even, on my car, so some of the awesome benefits of Windrestricters services did not apply to me. My car is debadged
for this reason. Pure, clean slk design…..ahhh.

I have a wind restrictor for my 170. I was tired of the mesh one blocking my rear view. The wind restrictor guys were friendly and didn't have a problem shipping mine to an APO address (US military address). There might be cheaper ones out there but I went with our sponsor to fill my requirements.

Thanks for the input. Just found the stock one under the seat so will try that one first. I too would only get a plain clear windscreen. Graphics and lights aren't my thing. I guess that makes sense because my '64 Lotus doesn't have a radio (Webers and exhaust are my tunes), takes 5 minutes to assemble the top, etc. I'm pretty old school when it comes to sports cars, but my wife likes having all the creature comforts so for her I'll probably buy a WindRestrictor.

I have the windrestrictor r171 model on my car and I had the " cheaper copy " available elsewhere !
The difference in quality ( without mentioning the etching options ) is night and day from start to finish !

I bought our wind restricter for our old SLK 320 from formymercedes.com . We were completely happy with it. Simple and easy to install, no advertisement on it either.

An update. For now we are staying with the stock windscreen. I'm sure the Windrestrictor is superior, however we find the stock one easy to install and it works great. Maybe in the future we'll switch, but for now I thank all who contributed their thoughts.

I think you might be sorry, but it's your choice. I loved removing that screen and replacing it with something I could see out of, plus still reduce the wind. (My thoughts only). The best decision I ever made!

Well it comes down to keeping the car as stock as possible for us. We have 2 things on the car we are going to remove/replace to bring it back to the way it left the factory. Don't get me wrong, I'm the type of person who has modified almost every car I've ever owned, but for personal reasons this one I want to remain 100% stock. I know I could buy the wind restrictor and always remove it later, but at this point we don't see the stock one as a problem.

To us it was a no-brainer purchase. If you say "Convince me, and sell me on..." then you probably should NOT buy it. We love ours but but you might hate it after you get it. Good luck!
