Hi
My apologies I have been on here for 7 years now since I got this car and done a few fixes myself with you experts advice to others.
My roof was fine, then it developed an oil leak and my mechanic replaced the pipe and oil, the roof hasn't worked since. The console light flashes, the windows don't move and no noises heard.
He now thinks the roof latch is faulty.
Can anyone please help? I'm one frustrated owner.
I can see other threads but not for this issue.
I'm in Chester UK
Thanks in advance
Stuart

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Florida!

First please update your vehicle (year?: 2003) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information if you haven’t. This takes about 30 seconds to do.

Follow exactly to update: ‘Usercp’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘vehicle’. Info in your garage does not update your profile.

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable or to ‘edit’, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM/edit. You can always pm a moderator.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment or use the 'quote' button so we know who you are asking or replying to or referencing.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
FREE!! Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on your car). You must update your profile with vehicle info and your location and post an introduction first.

I already posted this but here it is again. If the light is flashing then some sensor(s) is not responding correctly.

The first step requires a Mercedes scanner (U$100 Autel Diaglink is fine) and I have posted the proper switch settings below.

Once you determine what is wrong, then you need to correct the problem, by then I should have the post that contains what is where.

Do we have an indexed archive somewhere ?

ps if your mechanic does not understand the .pdf, perhaps you need a new mechanic.

First please update your vehicle
(year?: 1996-2017)
in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
This takes about 30 seconds to do.

Follow exactly to update:
‘Usercp’ at the top of page,
then ‘edit your details’ on the left side,
‘additional information’ near the bottom,
edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’.
Info in your garage does not update your profile.

The reason that we ask you to update vehicle/location details
is to save repeating the same information every time that you ask a question.

Also, this site is truly worldwide. That can matter when you ask for help and information.
Are you looking for a bonnet, or a hood, a boot, or a trunk? Makes a difference.
Driving on the left, or the right?

First, is the blind inside the boot in the correct position?
Sometimes the switches don't connect correctly.

Tip:- have the engine running whilst using the roof testing issues.
it uses a lot of power and can drain the battery.

Have your mechanic check his work. It sounds like the luggage partition switch is not in place.

Stuart
Will the roof lower manually?
Will it unlatch manually?

The system has safety devices.
An example, if the windows do not lower, the roof will not operate.
Has the system been checked for power?

Sometimes it is something very simple that stops the whole process.

Fixed

Hi All
Thanks for the welcome and the suggestions on how to fix this.
In the end it turned out to be the roof catch. Bought one from a salvage agent we use in work off a rear ended smashed SLK and Dave at MD Motorcare fixed it.
Now all I need is the sun!
