Hey guys, how do you reset the petrol mileage on a 2004 slk 350 after every fill up to see how many kms/miles you get out of a tank.

Thanks,

Zippa

Hold down "R" on the side of your cluster for about 10 seconds whilst you are on the "mileage since reset" screen on the MFD. ;-)

zippa,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your location/vehicle (model and year) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. And it only takes about 30 seconds to do!

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member or guest will address your question.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message)- capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
New members and guests should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.

You can also do it on the "main" screen of the MFD that shows the total mileage. There is also a resettable total below that, and you do it just like John said, the button @ 9 o'clock on the left side of the speedometer housing.

I do it every time I fill up because my gas guage doesn't work. Minor inconvenience and not worth the $ to fix. When it gets to 400 miles I fill up.

In case you're interested, the car runs out of gas at 450 miles. When it coasts to a stop it's at 450.2 :biglaugh:

Just noticed that you are in Australia, so you may or may not have this feature - mine is a US version.

You know - not having a paper copy in the glove box just makes this harder for me. Whenever I want to know I'm sitting in the car. If I wait until I go in the house or to the office to pull it up on the computer I always forget what I'm wanting to know.

So either I need to put it on my phone so I can read it, or put an iPad in my car, or start taking some of the old man supplements so that I'll improve my memory !

Now what was I saying ? ! ?

I love reading the owners manual! First thing I do when I get a new car. A cup of coffee and the manual (instead of the newspaper) during my "morning constitution", ahhhhh, HEAVEN! :)

Gene, maybe YOUR SLK goes that far, but not mine :( R) :burnout: :)

zippa, if you have the total miles screen displayed on the MFD, below the t/m is the TRIP mileage. Insert the key into its slot and turn it ONE click, THEN push the R button(lower of the 2 buttons) on the side of the speedo and this should clear/reset the TRIP #.
