The BBC has reportedly selected its "dream team" for the next season of its hit car show, "Top Gear."

According to the Telegraph's James Rothwell, the trio will consist of model Jodie Kidd, actor Philip Glenister, and television host Guy Martin.

Kidd, 36, is a a noted fashion model and TV personality who currently hosts "The Classic Car Show" on the UK's Channel 5. Kidd is a well-known car enthusiast and has appeared on "Top Gear" twice as guest.

Glenister, 52, has had leading roles on the British TV shows "Life on Mars" and "Ashes to Ashes." The actor currently hosts "For the Love of Cars" on Channel 4 in the UK.

Martin, 33, is a successful TV host and motorcycle racer. He's made nearly a dozen appearances at the prestigious Tourist Trophy motorcycle race on the Isle of Man.

The new hosts will take over for Jeremy Clarkson – removed from the show after nearly 30 years at the helm due to a fracas with a producer – as well as Richard Hammond and James May, both of whom chose not to renew their contracts.

Longtime executive producer Andy Wilman has also left the show.

The BBC has not set a formal date for season 23 of "Top Gear."

'Fifth Gear' version for the BBC then.......can't see it gaining the same audience numbers after the first episode especially if May, Hammond and Clarkson star in another show that runs on another channel. The big question is who will be 'The Stig' or did he/she stay?? Anyone know?

The new show will be a loser. You just can't find substitutes for greatness. The idea is similar to those who decide to modify their cars and only succeed in diminishing its value.

The best thing the BBC could do is simply cancel the show and perhaps replace it with a show about Old Ladies drinking tea in their gardens while petting their cats. Now that's a show I would watch.

The human folly always amazes me. BBC has a gold mine watched around the world generating millions of dollars on an annual basis, and it gets upset over the volatility and idiosyncrasies of its star attraction, Jeremy Clarkson. If I were Clarkson and company, I'd move to another country where they'd be appreciated. Perhaps Australia?

mmm... seems to me that over the years enough folk in the entertainment industry have been allowed to get away with bad behaviour of various sorts... simply because of who they were...:frown:

Good luck to the new hosts.... It should be possible to be knowledgeable and interesting ...as well as pleasant and good humoured... and that would make a great show !!:smile::smile:

Ok, she's very pretty... (please note, I have avoided asking if she has the legs to do such a show...) but what street "cred" does she have re cars...or her co-hosts? Perhaps our Brit friends could comment.

I didn't realise that you needed street "cred" to present Top Gear! ;)

Although, Jodie is a bit of a petrolhead andway, and even beat Jay Kay to the top of the Top Gear leaderboard when she did her lap as the "Star in a reasonably priced car" some time ago! :)

She's also driven in the Gumball a couple of times, raced Maseratis, and presented a Classic Car Show.

I'm prepared to give the new crew the benefit of the doubt... let's just hope they do it in their own style though and don't try to mimic Jeremy, James and Richard! :D
