Hey guys,

I've had a quote from Celtic Tuning in the UK for a remap of my 320.

They have given me some figures for the gains the remap will give.

218bhp - 240bhp
229lb/ft - 249lb/ft torque

I spoke recently with a local tuning comp in my area and was told by them that the only way to chip/remap my car was to do a a spot of welding on the ECU.

Has anyone dealt with this company before?

Can anyone verify those sorts of gains claimed by Celtic Tuning for a stage 1 remap on a 320?

Thanks in advance.

The gain for normal aspirated is minimal, 8-9hp max...with dyno before and after but the throttle response and the general feeling of acceleration will be better.
You can find an original file for your ECU, mod that and then write with kess, in this way there is no need to open the ecu.

This is how I remap my slk r171 350.
Had one remap from quantum and on a dyno before and after I gain 9hp... and it didn't work limp mode after 3300 rpm in certain moments. Went with the Germans >:D

I have a Top Gear remap installed on my 2003 320 back in 2016. I've done 13,000 miles since with no problem whatsoever. The installation was via the OBD and the ECU did not need to be removed / hacked about.

Not too sure about overall power gains but the throttle response is significantly better and the car 'feels' more torquey throughout the rev range. The 320 is renowned for being a 'laid back and lazy engine' - the remap really opened it up and it's a real hoot to drive now.

I chose the Top Gear remap as they had a published performance curve.

And how much did that cost? I'm on the Kess website now and seeing a lot of 4 digits...

If you want stress free go with the remap company.
If you want adventure buy a kess v2 from the internet (£57 from aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/KESS-V2-Master-Kess-V2-47-V2-23-V5-017-EU-Red-PCB-No-Token-Limit/32853186521.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.1.13fa61c277y92h&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10152_10151_10065_10344_10130_10068_10324_10547_10342_10325_10343_10340_10548_10341_10696_10192_10190_10084_10083_10618_10307_10820_10301_10821_10303_10059_100031_10103_10624_10623_10622_10621_10620,searchweb201603_13,ppcSwitch_2&algo_expid=b74abec0-0327-4238-a83a-9b82577cb1c2-0&algo_pvid=b74abec0-0327-4238-a83a-9b82577cb1c2&priceBeautifyAB=0 (be aware you can brick your ecu and you need an external power able to sustain 13.7v on your car during ECU flash ) find a person to supply original file test the file on your ecu ( here is the problem if the ori file is bad you are screw =)) ) if this is ok and no errors you can find a person to modify the map.
I can supply the ori and the remap file BUT no WARRANTY for £150
In my case, I paid £350 for quantum and it didn't work I get the refound and did it with some help fro £200 hardware, ori and modified file
