So other than it being completely ugly, it's fine, there is nothing wrong with my mirror. But I also have the little triangular homelink 3 button housing above it [that will not work to program my garage door chamberlain system no matter what I do-I have tried everything and I know for a fact it's not a rolling code because I didn't need to reset the button on the back of the unit for the Jeep when I programmed it a few years ago.

So, what I want to know is, has anyone had any success with something like this? Actually have it programmed and working?

Mercedes uses a system called Homelink. If you have a non-Homelink system, you need one of these http://www.waynedaltonparts.com/Homelink-Conversion-Kit-1.html I had to install one on my garage door opener. Works fine for my 2008 Bluetec, 2004 Volvo, and of course the 2001 SLK320 (the queen of cars). It also worked with a 1999 C280. It takes a ladder and about 15 minutes to install. You then program your cars with the remote that comes with it. Any existing hand held remotes will continue to work.

I just got another remote copied for my garage door , took out two wires from one of the micro switches on the remote and put a push button underneath my mirror ( with my led display for parking sensors ) ! I then stored the remote in the OCP . You might even be able use your existing button , just wire the remote into it ?

I cannot easily get to the back of my unit, that's the problem in and of itself. The fact that I didn't have to do any of this to program my 2011 jeep just irks me.
