it seems everytime i go fast (not sure what speed) i hear rattling sound, like a steady vibrating noise possibly coming from the center console/dashboard area. it is a lot more noticable and louder when I accelerate in sport mode.
anyone have any experience with this issue? thanks...

OK.. forgive me... but.... have you got anything in the trays in the centre.. that could be causing this noise..

Another daft question.. but... your keyring.. do you have anything on it that could rattle...

Obviously, whatever it is, is made worse by high speeds... but take a good look around to see what is perhaps a little loose...

good luck.. :smile::smile::smile:

This happens in mine. Merc checked it and said they couldn't find anything.
mine generally happens when accelerating hard, then lifting off.

I guess it's just a design fault, anyway it doesn't matter, drive faster and you wont hear it >:D>:D

My 2012 SLK250 makes a rattling noise when coasting to a stop. Just recently started, at 33MPH. Sounds like a very lose tail pipe or something near the transmission.

A common source of unexpected rattles in the R171 was when the passenger seat belt was on the side of the seat instead of slung to the front. It would hit the door panel.

Probably not that from your description, but doesn't hurt to take a look.

Sometimes a rattling sound at certain speeds can be the balance of the tires. When you hit a specific resonance frequency, the tires can wobble in that speed range, and hence the car vibrates. Remember back in high school since class? Here's what the right frequency can do:
