I love my 2014 SLK55 AMG. If I’m lucky enough to outlive it, or should I need to replace it, it will be with another R172 SLK55, definitely. At that time, I will strive to find one with the AMG Performance Package P30 option (my current AMG does not have it).

I’m having a set of wheels built for my car, and I’d like to have them built to fit my car now, as well as fit an R172 SLK55 AMG that HAS the P30 option. For me, this raises the following question, perhaps put different ways:

How are the R172 SLK55 AMG P30 brake calipers/rotors different than the standard R172 SLK55 AMG brake calipers/rotors? More to my point, how are they DIMENSIONALLY different?

Will R172 SLK55 AMG wheels fit equally well on cars with/without the P30 option?

Can any member share with me an R172 SLK55 AMG dimensioned cross-section view of their wheel/brake/rotor assemblies WITH the P30 option?

Similarly, can any member provide me an R172 SLK55 AMG dimensioned cross-section view of their wheel/brake/rotor assemblies WITHOUT the P30 option?

Many thanks in advance for a member (members?) to aid in my understanding.

I’ve done more research on this topic, and I can attempt to provide clarity.

At least in the US, R172 SLK55 AMGs with the P30 AMG PERFORMANCE PACKAGE benefit from having these additional features:

251 INCREASED SPEED LIMIT FOR NAFTA
281 AMG PERFORMANCE STEERING WHEEL (alcantara)
471 MECHANICAL LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL
486 SPORTS SUSPENSION
760 AMG MULTI-SPOKE WHEELS 18” WITH MIXED TIRES

In the option list, and in photographs of SLK55s so equipped, I’m seeing no difference from the standard gray 4-pot brakes that come with all R172 SLK55 AMGs.

If any member of our forum has an R172 SLK55 AMG that came from the factory with front wheel red 6-pot brakes, I would very much appreciate your input in this thread.

Thank you for your attention.

Whilst you wait for 172 knowledge.

On 171
6 pot vs 4 pot
Diameter and width larger too I think.

Have a look through the 171 brake upgrade threads.
Dimension noted there.

It will at least give an idea of what you may be requiring.

I have P30 on my 172 55 and it has the grey calipers but it does have all the options you listed.
All the 172 55s I’ve seen for sale in the uk with P30 have the same grey calipers, it may be different in other parts of the world?
