Just got a used MB phone cradle for my 2005 200k.
It takes a Nokia 6230 and as it happens I have one in my old phone collection.
I put the SIM in put the phone in the cradle, turned it on, plugged the cradle in, switched on the ignition but the car does not recognise that the phone is there.
I checked with Nokia but there are no firmware updates available.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers!

Perhaps the cradle is damaged or you only have pre-wire.

Do you have COMAND

Hi,
yes I have COMMAND and Audio 20.
The car has hardly been used (only 11,000 miles by a lady doctor) so its wvery unlikely the wiring is no good.
Also all the pins look OK on the cradle
many thanks

You can't have COMAND and Audio 20, you will have one or the other.

Pre-wire doesn't mean defective wiring but rather an MB option code for phone wiring but no control unit to make it work.

The cradle contains circuitry so it needs to be treated as an electronic device, the pins being in OK shape is not an indication of its health.

When you connect the phone does the signal improve and/or it starts to charge?

Spoke to a friend who is a mobile phone expert.
He loaded another version of the software on the phone and it now works OK.

Look for a connector in the center armrest. I think if the connector is there, the wiring is present.
