I have a stock airbox (A 273 090 09 01) from a 2008 SLK280 for sale. This was removed when upgraded to the sport airbox. The airbox is in good shape with minor scuffing. I believe this will fit all 6 cylinder R171. I have confirmed it is the same part number from the SLK350.
$75 or best reasonable offer plus shipping.
I have the MB Box the sport airbox was shipped in. It will be nicely packaged for shipping.

The sport airbox swap was done on two other SLKNW club members, not on my car. They report minor/possibly undetectable performance gains. The sound is definitely a little different. A little more sporty sound from the intake. It costs about $300. They both say it was worth the expense. It’s a very quick install and comes with two new air filters installed.

Just FYI:
It will fit ANY m272 equipped engine in any chassis designation. It will sell for that price on eBay in a second.

However, where is the front engine cover that connects directly to the airbox? Was it retained and used with the new airbox? If so, isn't the new one w/ a "red" stripe while the cover still has the grey stripe? just curious.

By the way, here is some feedback from the owner of the 280 with the sport airbox:

So YES: The sport air box is a great addition. I would advise this upgrade to any SLK owner that can afford it.
  • There is indeed some additional sound but, at least for me, it is quite pleasant.. :) But not overwhelming. Idling sound is unchanged of course.
  • There is a noticeable HP increase, not a massive one, but still, more HP are there. Hard to tell, maybe +5 or maybe 10.
  • RPM's goes up much faster: this is probably the best feature. The engine gains RPM's more quickly taking you significantly faster to the sweet spot of maximum torque. This makes the car even more agile and pleasant to drive.
  • For "lazy" freeway driving, the above can also sometimes "save" you a gear down and then a gear up. Maybe that's not really important since, sadly, most people drive "automatic"…
