Hello and happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I too have the dreaded "start error" hot start problem (SLK230 won't start until it's cold).

Things I've already tried include:
-checked all fuses
-replace CPS (crankshaft position sensor)
-re-solder k40 relay module
-replaced k40
-replaced fuel pump
-replaced ignition transponder coil

One thing that I've discovered, which has made it possible for me to live with this problem, is that when I turn the engine off, then immediately turn the key back to 2nd position (electronic components powered on, but engine off) and leave it there, when I return to my car, I can start it every time. However, if I remove the key, even for just a few seconds, then try to start, it reads "start error" and I get to sit around and ponder life for atleast 1/2 an hour.

Upon research, I discovered this thread: http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-general-discussion/25705-start-error-dash-readout.html

However, I can't figure out where OP's 2nd photo is taken. Anyone have a clue?

Here's the image: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e103/JFRALBUM/SLKfilcapteurarbreacames.jpg

I'd greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions!

Thanks!

Since you're in the US, why not take the car to a MB dealer and get them to carry out the recall upgrade that's required and see whether that sorta out the problem?

Sorry, I don't know where the 2nd photo shows, but I'm sure someone helpful will be along in a minute to help.

Welcome to the forum, by the way, from not so sunny South Wales.
