Had my 02 200k in for a major service where I was advised it needed a "rear brake overhaul".

Not being the most mechanically minded person, I'm unsure as to what this entails, is it merely change of discs/pads, or a full strip down and rebuild of the brakes?

Any help or advice would be extremely appreciated :burnout:

And a happy new year to ya'll!

Hard to say -- ask the mechanic what he saw? Typical brake service is just replacing pads, maybe rotors, and maybe flushing the fluid -- all of which are routine operations. The usual symptoms that would call for a more extensive brake overhaul are finding fluid leaking out of the calipers, or one or more sticking pistons in the caliper.

Rear brake overhall could include rear brake pads , rear brake discs , rear in board brake shoes and adjusters / spring kit !

Merc include all spring / adjusters / spring retainer's etc included in the brake shoe kit if my memory serves me correct !

Plus brake flexy hose pipe which are common to crack / split .

Doubt callipers as callipers either work / bind ie dont release or leak ! :tu:
