Having read the comments on spare wheel removal I am wondering wether I'm missing the point here.I had no difficulty stall. The tyre must be totally deflated by and this is important, removal of the valve insert. The tyre is designed to deflate in such away that the wall of the tyre folds in on it self thus making it small enough to simply fit down in its cavity, obviously after the deflation you refit the valve insert. No need to use plastic bags, liquids or strain your back, it really is as simple as that!!!!

My understanding is: The plastic bag is for the dirty tire when you put it back in the trunk (keeps the trunk clean); The liquid is a sort of "fix a flat" concoction (along with the pump) that MB used for repairing the flat when it was still on the car. I've only had the need to use the spare once and it is a tight fit putting it back, but not so difficult as to be anything more than annoying.
