The Northern California SLK Enthusiasts had yet another great California meet and drive on August 14, 2010. This one was special, because we had the opportunity to meet up with eight people in four cars from the NorthWest (NW) SLK Enthusiasts who were in town for the Pebble Beach Concours! :hail:

R)On the Northern California side, we had
13 SLK's at the meet; 21 people. That made 17 SLK's with 29 people total. We met
in Monterey, then drove down the coast to Big Sur for lunch. We all drove down to where the NW group dined at Nepenthe, then the No. CA group drove back up four miles north to dine at the Big Sur River Inn.

A special thanks to the NorthWest (NW) folks for the opportunity to meet and drive together! :tu:

Very nice! Too bad about the cloud cover on the coastal portions of the run. I guess you guys didn't run into Santamonica SLK32 who is also up there this weekend?

No, we missed anyone else. It was hard to get together the coordination...I am getting kinda maxed out at work and need to recruit some more involvement up here in coordination.

The weather could have been better...definitely affects the picture possibilities with low light...we accused the NW group of bringing Seattle weather, but it was supposedly beautiful and warm there...

A good time anyway :tu:

Sorry I missed the Norcal group in Carmel/Big Sur, I guess I was too reliant on the Norcal/Socal meetup thread in this forum section. I never saw in meet points or times posted.

Cha and I did meet the NW group in Big Sur and we had a nice chat over lunch and then a fun drive from Big Sur into Carmel. I'll post some pics by tomorrow.

Santamonica SLK32,

I apologize for not doing a better job with the info here...got really busy at work and the others from our group involved did not get anything going early enough. Because ours was so late, we couldn't get into Nepenthe :( and I came up with the last minute lunch at the Big Sur River Inn. I tried to get them to caravan back, but the cell phone coverage at Nepenthe was non-existent. Maybe we can still get a hook-up with No. & So. Cal people in the future...

Glad you got meet the NW folks.... :tu:

Why does this NOT surprise me?

We did drive through the Nepenthe parking lot while dropping off the NW Group. We were sooo close to each other - maybe next time. Like Steve said, the cell phone coverage was horrible. We had a great time - its always fun when we go on these drives & grab some lunch/chat.
