R) The Northern California SLK Enthusiasts had yet another great California drive February 20, 2010. I am sure the accurate numbers will come from Tom, but I counted about 20 SLK's participating. We met in Pleasanton, then drove through the hills back around to Dublin to the Cemetery with a talk about the Donner Party myths and then drove down to lunch at Callippe Preserve.

Special thanks to Chuck for researching and presenting the "Donner Party Part II - Dublin Myth Debunked." :hail:

CRANK UP THE SOUND on your computer!

A QuickTime show of the 2/20/10 Northern California SLK Enthusiasts meet and drive can be seen here:

A special actual drive movie can be found here, although it is very large and may download slowly, depending on your connection:

ENJOY!

As usual, here are some links to past events.
QuickTime's of the events back to January of 2005 can be found on this website:

Quicktime player for the PC or MAC is available free at:

Thanks to all who participated!!! :tu:

Looks like a lot of fun was had, and tops came down even with all the clouds. Did you guys manage to stay dry the entire day?

Yes, although there were just a few moisture drops for a quick time, the day remained dry and a good time as usual...:)

Nice job! Do you do this with a digital camera or a digital camcorder? I need to start experimenting with this. What software do you use? You might make a flyer the weeks leading up to your next event and plaster on every SLK you come across and your local MB dealers too.

Thanks!

The monthly QuickTime here was from iPhoto on a Mac from still pictures from a digital camera:

The special actual drive movie:

was from a camera mounted to the right side roll bar pointed back; a 2 GB SD card gave over a half hour of footage that I reduced down to 5+ minutes and added the music with QuickTime Pro. The sound from the camera filming was total noise from wind, so I replaced it with music.

The camera is this one:

Oh, yes, we do have a flyer (Word) we developed to leave on cars, but have not been too actively marketing lately...the 20 cars we got this month is pretty good, we market more when numbers drop and we have more time...

Is your group caravaning to the 2010 SLKWorld Retreat?
We have to see if we have enough interest...this last year, only one of our participants went. We are planning to get together with the NW group in August around the Carmel concours...we will see what else we can do...

For me personally, it may depend on work commitments...
