Hey! So I really want to buy this SLK down the street but the check engine light is on. Im going for a test drive and I'm gonna try and hook up my scanner to it. What error codes do I need to look out for so I dont buy into a ton of problems.

The 320 engines are fairly reliable, CEL usually caused by faulty electrics, usual fault codes relate to,
Secondary air,
Camshaft sensor,
Crankshaft sensor,
Missfire, random or a specific cylinder and plug.
The K40 relay can also cause CEL to come on.
Try and get a list of the fault codes then look up on the OBD2 website.
There are a lot of faults that do not cause the CEL to come on so there may be quite a list stored in the ECU.
Regards Stuart.

Im picking it up tomorrow because the carfax was so good. Its actually a 230 slk. The owner took it in to the dealership to get serviced regularly. Im going to get the codes probably after I have the title but so what I'm down to get one of these back to mint condition. 3 owners and alot of replaced parts. Any codes that should keep me from buying it?
