As per the title when the roof is closed the side flaps stay up.

I have had a look around and cannot see why it is doing this and it seems that the microswitches merely identify when the flaps are down.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the cure?

I stand corrected

this video is NOT my 55 but one can clearly see the side flaps are flat like the parcel shelf

so both flaps stay vertical?

Let's get the experts and send up the bat signal :D

Well, just checked mine (R171) and they do not. What could be termed the rear parcel shelf is flat from one side to the other including the end flaps. In Lincsboys 170 the flap at either end is in the vertical position with the roof up as opposed to horizontal

thanks for your help over the query about the the side flaps on my slk170.
After a bit of research I can confirm that the side flaps are in the vertical position when the roof is closed, my confusion arose after seeing other SLKs with flaps that slide under the parcel shelf when the roof is closed.
Bit of info that might be helpful, we have had frosts in the UK lately and I find the grease on the end locking latches freezes, stopping the roof from operating.

I've just been up to check (and it's f-f-f-freezing up there!!). Both my flaps are 'up' with the roof closed. I don't think there's room for these to close as they cover the roof supports when the roof is in the boot.

Thanks!
So now we know
R170, flaps up when closed
R171 and probably R172 flaps down when closed

Remember this coming up when I first joined.

The 230 flaps definitely don't go flat.

But for the sake of Jeff's sanity,
never, ever refer to them as speakers :D
