Hi all

I'm Nick from London...big car fiend. 18 cars in 11 years. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Bentley, Range Rover etc etc

Had my beautiful Z4 E89 for 4 years now and decided on a change. To be honest, there is lots the Z4 does better but there is also the solid build of the SLK and the softer cruising ride which has sold me.

I've put a deposit on this car, would welcome your views on price.

Mods I want to add

Smart Top
Sub woofer
HID lights
Satin paint to alloys
Carbon wrap the centre console.

Any other advice?

Thanks

Nick

Welcome from NE England. Congratulations on your SLK.

Don't forget, if you add HIDs in the UK, you will also have to add a self leveling system and headlamp washers so you can "legally" (!!! ) pass an MOT.

HID's & MOT's....

Welcome from North Hampshire:

Totally agree the about the R171 needing HID's, rubbish light output even with the Philips 100% Brighter Bulbs. If You never plan to drive one's SLK at night, in the country side, this would never be a issue:

Also agree with Woolly that after market HID units are not legal, but modified cars do pass the MOT, as they only test safety items that are installed and make sure they are working correctly....

Hi Nick, and welcome from the UK Midlands!

SmartTop is a definite must-have... I got my SLK (R171) 2.5 weeks ago, and fitted the SmartTop a week later... Very cool and MUCH better than standard roof operation! :)

I'll leave other R172 owners to make any other suggestions.
