Another dumb question from a newbe. Im looking for the portable windscreen in my 2016 SLK-350. The manual says everything except where it is...LOL!!!
I've checked the trunk and under the trunk hatch where the spare is, behind the seats etc, maybe I did't get one OR it's an option...any suggestions???

you get your free datacard from us to see if you have it as an option?
yep, saw that...all the install info great!!says its in the trunk, mine not in the trunk...arrrggg!!! calling my dealer!!
get em!!! but check your datacard or windshield sticker first. don't know if that is an option or not.

look behind driver's seats
IIRC, lift the "floor" partition of the trunk/boot (the one you would remove to get to the air compressor and tools for fixing a flat tire) and turn it around or flip it around. In the R172 the floor of the trunk/boot is reversible (to form a fully flat surface or one with a central depression for more space). The portable windscreen is stored in the "depressed" area.

Let us know if you are able to locate the windscreen.

It's attached to the removable trunk floor by elastic straps. If you lifted the floor out you're enjoying probably put it down carefully and if you look underneath, it'll be tucked into the recess.

Windscreen is also a bit of a misnomer. It's a wind block so it's sort of like a black mesh contraption. As has been pointed out, a Windrestrictor is a better option for visibility out the back.

Thanx for the heads-up, that was checked and "no cigar", not worried because my Dealer here is ordering me one and very apologetic about one not being in the car. That being said that removable trunk floor is a great design being able to be reversed for extra storage...good on MB!!!
Appreciate the help....
do you have the airguide wind deflectors? My SLK came with the airguide and MB deleted the standard windscreen as stock equipment (I looked for it and asked!)

Ahhhh, that may be the answer, yes I do have the air guide wind deflectors!!!
That makes total sense, do they work well? I haven't had nice top down weather here yet to try them out...

its been a while since I went topless too. They are convenient (you don't have to stop and get into the trunk, you can just turn them to the "on" position with one hand behind your head). But IMO they aren't as effective as a rigid wind restrictor stretched between the seats.

Having said this, I usually keep a pair of earplugs in the cigarette lighter compartment (what else can you store in that tiny hole?) so that I can drive on the highway with the windows down and not get a headache from the wind noise, so many times I forget to turn the airguide to deflect air.

I miss summer. :crying:
