As I write this just came back from showing a friend the SLK he thinks its a very good ride indeed. I was looking to buy a porsche Boxster but the wife didnt like them so bought the SLK and I am glad I did. Not sure what the gas (as you americans say we call it petrol) mileage will be but at the moment just having a good time and not driving with a view to fuel consumption.

2002 230 66,000 miles fulldealer service history in red its a dark red and so far havent seen another the same shade.I must go now as the sun is out and the roof is down

Howdy from the Colonies. You made a good choice. The car indeed looks very nice in the darker shade of red. We have both an SLK 350 (R172) and a Boxster-S (981 Series) in the garage. Both are great cars, imho. The 981 is a wee-bit faster, a tad more HP and a lower kerb weight. I like the looks of the SLK, but it is my baby, so I guess I am biased on that side. I have to give the nod to the Porsche for interior finish and luggage space. However, I get to actually see the engine in the SLK.

It looks a real beauty, and I'm amazed how elegantly they are aging. I saw one in a bright blue recently and it looked about five years old, but was nearer 15!

Good choice. I did exactly the same, I wanted to get a Porsche Boxter/Cayman or 911, as I've had 3 Porsche's in the past (Even my daughter's name is Porsche) But, this time the R171 and it's F1 nose just won my heart, and driving it clinched the deal. Welcome to the forum...
