That's unfortunate. I've done this myself in my first diesel car, it's very easily done.

Whatever else you do, don't take it anywhere near a Mercedes dealer! They'll insist on you replacing half the engine to keep your warranty.

You can't sensibly get it out yourself. Luckily, the petrol won't mix with any remaining diesel in the tank so it's almost certain no damage has been done to the car

There are loads of mis-fuelling specialists - fueldrainer.co.uk or fuelrescue.co.uk will both sort you out for between £100 and £200. If you're an AA or RAC or Green Flag member they all have specialist misfuelling recovery vehicles, and cheaper than the companies who 'specialise' is helping traumatised misfuellers away from their money.

I did the same when I changed from a Volvo V70 T5 to a diesel V70 D5, 70ltr tank. Easily done.

I then realised my mistake, filled the tank to the brim with disel, and got away with it (motorway driving)

The only thing that showed up on the car was a low fuel preassure warning alert after about an hours driving.

I kept filling the tank with disel when reaching the 3/4 mark on the fuel gage.

Not recomending this option, but needs must when doing a 0530 start from Manchester to Slough for a meeting.

Sold the Volvo with 118,000 on the clock, and never had any problems.
