This really helps. This roof has a list price of $3800 for anyone searching the archives. I saw an adjustable tint version for almost 14K. Wow. Glad that is not the correct roof.

Typing too fast. Your part was correct of course. I am glad the $14,000 part number I found on my own is not correct. Yeah, don't want to pay either cost but $14K is insane.

List price for the fixed tint says $3,800 and adjustable tint says $15,390. One site discounted to 14K.

Edit - I couldn't make a deal on this car to reduce the price to offset the damaged roof. Big lesson though. I had no idea the adjustable tint roof could possibly cost this much. Hopefully if someone does break their adjustable tint roof, they can replace it with the fixed tint version.

Magic Sky only has two settings, clear(ish) and dark. The $3800 dollar part is that roof panel. I had a quote to get it fitted in the UK and it was £2500 ($4000) for the part.

The $15,000 dollar panel is something else again completely. Possibly something Designo?

I am almost afraid to Google this to figure out what Designo means.

After reading about the cracks in the roof, I am looking forward to getting a solid roof like my old 2001 R170. Looking at a 2009 R171 today from my local MB dealer.

Designo paint is about $3000 for any current Mercedes colour and $8000 for exactly the colour you want, made to your specification.

Designo leather interior is $7000 to your colour and specification.

And then beyond Designo is Chauffeur and Specialist Vehicles where they'll put a bigger engine in it to compensate for the weight of the armour plating you're specifying >

Once you get to cars like the SL65 Designo is part of the pricing structure.
