So my 2007 SLK has paint code 040(black). I believe this is also the same paint code for Chrysler for black. Dupli-color's Perfect match spray paint has the 040 paint for Chrysler but does not mention Mercedes. Do you suppose it's the same color? I'm looking to spot repair about a nickel size imperfection on the nose of the hood. I have the touch up paint from Mercedes but i don't think brushing would be the way to go.

that's a big size for not having the exact color. when you buy it from mb, they also include the clearcoat touchup. you don't have to use the brush.

My local dealer doesn't sell the touch up in a spray. So you're saying Chrysler black and Mercedes black is most likely not a match? Even though in 2007 they were the same company? Just a coincidence they use 040 for black? Time to make a trip to the auto paint supply store.

I wouldn't take a chance on a repair job the size of a nickel is what i am saying. you car has clearcoat on it, no? might be coincidence or just want to make money selling to mb customers that don't want to pay $25 for the touchup with clearcoat :D
