Gentlepeople,

I am getting a recurring P0105 code and check engine light on my 2000 SLK 230. I did my research on here, and found a small tear on the tubing going to the sensor (most common problem), and replaced the sensor as well for good measure. I still get a check engine light every second or third time I drive the car(maybe one drive cycle??). When I went back to the old manifold pressure sensor I get check engine lights at the same interval, so it seems the sensor does not matter.

Here's Where I Need Some SLK Intuition....

I also have found that my Camshaft Adjuster Magnet has a real good leak going (that other common thing). Is it possible that the manifold pressure sensor is being tripped by the leaky Adjuster Magnet? I'm going to replace the Adjuster Magnet and seal anyway, but I'm still wondering if it could be the cause of the P0105 problem. I dont know enough about the internals to diagnose this. Thanks for any insight.

I'd just set Torque Pro on my phone to display/log the MAP readout and go for a drive to see if it jumps around. Also P0105 is an OBD-II code, you need something that can display/clear the much more detailed Merc codes.

ps SM indicates that the MAP reading needs to be off for several seconds to set the code.

Thank you for the inputs. I will give the Torque Pro idea a shot. For clarity though, in the app is the "Intake Manifold Pressure" the readout I'm looking for? There is also a barometer (from vehicle) and I want to make sure I'm looking at the right thing. As for clear detailed Merc codes, what reader do you recommend?

First I have to ask: is this a Facelift model with the 16 pin under dash OBD-II connector ? If so there are several but not software: (order is increasing price) Autel DiagLink with BENZ module, iCarSoft MB-II, and Leader CRP-123. I am looking into the iCarsoft MB V1.0 but have a special need that it must also be able to scan my '07 Crossfire.

Barring that the most cost-effective is probably the Autel because it is so versatile and the iCarSoft MB-II has the largest screen. The hard part is being able to read/reset the SRS/ORC/Airbag module.

That said, I have a feeling that the Autel, iCarsoft, and Leader are all using the same software engine at least a number of screens are the same and in the same order.

So, I have run the car on a few drives and Im getting about 10.2 psi of intake manifold pressure , with an absolute low of 9.9 pis and a high of 20 psi while accelerating. I have no idea where these number are supposed to be, but I have noticed that occasionally the number will freeze, even though I am varying throttle, meaning maybe the sensor has stopped giving an input. I honestly don't think its the sensor though, so Im going to trace the wires back and see what they look like in the connection if I can. Like I said, Its a hot mess near the adjuster magnet, so maybe I got oil in the connector and its just not making the best connection.
