Hi,

So I have had my '99 SLK230 for about 4 months and I am running into a bunch of little issues :(

I am looking for an online source for parts that is "reputable". I have seen roughly 9346572 sites where I can order parts from and am getting a little overwhelmed at the choices.

Is there anyplace you guys recommend I check out? **shipping to Canada is a bonus :)

For now I'd be looking for the trunk struts (tired of getting hit in the head) and possibly a new fuel pump.

Thanks for any info anyone can send my way.

Scott

Wayne, those "pig ears" are on most UK SLKs so you should be able to find one from a breakers yard. Then get it sprayed to for the correct colour.

If you want the part number, the easiest thing is to drive into a MB dealer, ask for a quote for "one of them" while pointing at it. They'll give you a quote and write the part number down for you. Then you can shop online with that number.

Not sure about an R170, but the Parts Department at my local Dealership has been much more willing to match prices on parts on my R171 than I expected.

If you spend some time here on the forum you'll get a better feel of what parts you can "eBay" and which ones need to be Genuine MB. The suggestions above are good ones. Bimmerspecialist.com, while not primarily a M-B site, does IMHO have an easier search engine when you don't really know what you're looking for.

If you haven't downloaded the EPC tool from M-B then I would highly recommend it. The first year is free, and it has more information than you can ever use about the car. It will give you the M-B part # for whatever you are looking for. Once you have that it makes searching the other sites a lot easier. In fact, most of the sites like Getmercedesparts look to be based on the EPC menu structure. Granted, my experience is on an '06, and I have never looked in EPC for a '99. Maybe some of the other guys can let you know if it would help you.

Regardless - enjoy ! These cars are close to the most fun you can have in public !
