I recently purchased a 2000 slk230 in bahama blue and the orange corner markers on the front bumper kind of date the car to me. I have seen on post face lift models that these are actually lights, and I'm wondering if that is also true on the pre face lift model that I have, or if they are just reflectors? (Mine don't work if they are lights)

Either way, I think I'm going to replace them with clear marker LEDs from ebay, but before I do that I want to see if I'm going to have to create my own wiring down to those spots. Thanks for the help.

check your bulbs
per usa/state laws, side markers have to be amber or light is amber if marker is clear
(law in Floriduh)

so check your mvb statutes

In Illinois I installed smoked markers [yes they're illegal here] but never got in trouble for them. I also had my mechanic change out all the exterior bulbs to LED's, made a huge difference in the appearance. When in doubt, go clear. Can't go wrong.

Thank you for the responses, however all the cars posted are post face lift. Are my corner markers lights or just reflectors? I haven't had a chance to get under there, but neither put off any light right now.

They're definitely marker lamps. I'm surprised you don't have a "Lamp Out" indicator glowing on the dashboard.
On my yellow 2000 SLK230K, the orange lens looked fine to me.
