Hi,

Im looking to buy a R171 SLK55. From the options that are out there i like the opal red ones.
The car im looking at has 200.000kms on the clock and is from 2006.
But as everyone should  i searched the forums first and stumbled on all the threads on the paint issues with this color.
In these threads i noticed some people say that it shouldn't affect the R171 but only the never cars but is this true and correct ?
According to the seller it has no paint issues at all so that would confirm the theory but id like to know for sure >:D

2006 has 12 years of wear and tear anyway, if used routinely.

@DAVIETHESCAFF did your paintwork have the issue? I know you did the coating.

As has been, said the issue only affected the 172. The 171 Fire Opal Red was fine. Mabel is a 2008 and I did get a ceramic coating but for the shine factor and ease of cleaning. She'll be 11 this year and has 130k+ on the clock, but still looks good.
