Drove my 55 to work this morning, the first time she's been out in weeks due to the inclement weather we get here in the UK! Got her warm, opened the taps up, and smiled from ear to ear, enough said!:):):):):):):)

I fitted a Supersprint X-Pipe and have to say, the overall quality is second to none, the fitter said it was like fitting an OEM part (once he had cut the original pipe;-) and the sound is transformed on WOT from Messerschmitt to a Snarling V8 sound.

Very slight difference on idle but still noticeable, it also feels like it accelerates faster but this is may be due to the sound having said that, the standard resonator is not an X-Pipe it is Straight through perforated exhaust tubing (X-Pipes even out the exhaust pulses apparently providing better low down torque:).

everyone should have this done as standard to help the car to become what the designers thought they were building before the dreaded EU Environmental Noise Directive (2002/49/EC) came into force :rb

Tiledhouse it makes a huge difference to the grin factor. The sound on start up is fantastic then it just quietens down to a faint rumble. If you drive carefully you hardly notice the change which is ideal for when your on the motorway at relative low revs, but when you hit the pedal and change the sound comes into it's own, like Knight said this really is how the "55" should have sounded from the the factory, if you are my way pop round in yours and we can do a side by side comparison for you:)

Ok, Andy I'd be up for a meet some time. I live about 20mins from Trev (J1 of M42)so perhaps we could all hook up in the better weather?
Also in the summer i have to take my daughter to Coventry on some Monday evening (Walsgrave) so perhaps another opportunity then.
Did you get you exhaust work done at Mr Tyre? If so did you opt for straight or X pipe?
I've read Trevs post with pictures before & after & understand his points. Hence asking you which type you had.
I was also quoted £80 which is great. However if you had a proper X pipe connection i'm sure the cost would be quite a bit more due to the extra work?
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike

Yes i had an Xpipe fitted at Mr tyre (Coventry ) the Xpipe is a magnaflow , The fitting cost was about £50 & the xpipe was about £80 . Mr tyre will not make up an xpipe or buy one in for you , you have to supply one yourself .

I live in Walsgrave Coventry not far from the big Tesco just off the M6/M69 .

Cheers

I thought there was only a Cadbury's world!
A Mercedes world ? Yep I'm up for that Trev.
When the weather is better then? Andy?
And anyone else in the Midlands?
I noted that The UK members up North get together when i looked on the UK section of SLK World site, so this could be the start of the Midlands group.
Anyone else out there????

Small world yes. That name i believe was on the log book when i viewed the car.
You worried me for a moment. I thought you was going to tell me it had been used by Mr Clarkson on top gear to be chased by tanks & eventually been blown up by 'Mr T' from the A team & snickers advert before being reconstructed & sold to me!
Phew all is cool again.
