Just found this site while looking at upgrade possibilities for stereo in my 2009 SLK350. Bought it about a week ago with ~48000 miles on it. Currently is 6th car (until I sell something?). Will be commuter. Looked at Toyota 86 (too little power), Lotus Elise (too hard to get in/out), and Tesla Roadster (too many miles - priced too high for what you get).
This baby benz should still be fun to drive and gets better MPG than my lifted Jeep or Supercharged Xterra.

Any service items I should be aware of as it gets to 55000, 60000 miles etc?

No whining now...

Hi and welcome to from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us! :)

... as for your maintenance schedule question, sorry, I couldn’t answer that without checking the maintenance manual (and my SLK hasn’t quite reached that mileage yet).

Thanks all for the multiple posts. I'm coming up on 50,000 miles and will probably do an oil change at that point just for sanity's sake. Service indicator on dashboard shows Service B due in about 9000 miles. After going back and forth between a Pioneer head unit or knock off chinese brand that looks like stock; I'm going to stick with current stereo. I can live without the backup camera and I've got a couple of adapters running to my iPhone. Combined with the phone mount/usb ports and a noise isolator on the aux cord, it's a clean installation. With less than $40 into it, I'm happy enough.
Car is fulfilling it's intended purpose as a fun commuter. I highly recommend a drive down the coast with the top down to relieve the day's work stresses.
