Hi Everybody, no Merc yet which is basically why I'm here initially to get some tips, find out about the SLK and see if any forum memebers are parting with their beloved machinery!!! Then hopefully join in any events etc in Southern UK - Regs Bob
Hey, No M. Welcome to the forum. I think you made a good decision to purchase a MB SLK. I have loved mine, and I am sure you can tell from reading the posts that I am not alone. You can find out almost anything you want to know about the SLK on this forum if you know where to look. As a matter of fact, if you don't know where to look - ask - and someone will point you in the right direction. As a point of doing research, I would suggest you go to coasttocoastimports.com and view their inventory of SLK's. You can get an idea of what is available and the price range. Usually they will have a half dozen SLK's or so to view. Obviously, this is not the only source, but it is a good one. Again, I say welcome. Keep us posted on your search.
Welcome from Valrico, Florida!
And welcome to this great forum!

Welcome from Kent, nice to see we have another south coaster...
I know you said you wanted to go to a couple of Southern meets, but, If you get your SLK in the next couple of weeks, were having a weekend up north' in Alnwick... so far 11 SLK's going... should be a good laugh..
Will be my first 'Sheep Chase' also, so don't feel like your the only newbie.
But don;t whatever you do rush your decision, find a really nice car at a really nice price and be happy
Welcome to the site! You have chosen a great auto! I drive my 2001 SLK everyday and it has been a very dependable car and is always fun to drive! This site has been a great help to me and I have been able to find an answer to every question or issue that has come up on this site! People here are very friendly and helpful!
Many thanks to everyone's warm welcome, I'll post some more as things proceed. I've spent many hours trawling the internet ads and I'm sure the right one will eventually materialise (at the right price!!) - the great thing is I'm in no great hurry - not as if I actually NEED another car - bit like the Renault ad' (Oops - apologies for the use of that word).
Welcome from Southwest Florida...It took me a long time to find my '06 that a senior citizen had, performed all the maintainence, and turned it in for a new caddy. Take your time and find a cream puff, they're out there.
Ok no longer "No Mercy" as have acquired 06 AMG 55 from NIckolai. Do you think I should change name to "Have Mercy" now?? Now just have to find out how to post photos - as I just know I'll be asked!!!
I think I need the digital air-con switches and Smarttop at the very least - probably ipod connection but already have phone cradle. Wheels need refurb - apart from that it's basically a good car.
Since owning and driving - for a week now - discovered that Mercedes could learn an awful lot from Honda on certain things - for instance I now have dirty finger marks all over the Sat Nav screen (Honda is touch screen) and I can talk to the car and it does all sorts of things.. Yeah I know it's picky but you get used to these little toys......... The computer doesn't seem to tell you as much as the Honda (although haven't completely read the manual yet so I could be talking out of the wrong orifice). Can it tell you how many miles before you are empty??
Pictures courtesy of Nickolai as I haven't got mine sorted and reduced yet.
Incidentally - a bit disappointed about the turn-out at Beaulieu German Car Day last Sunday - only three SLK and I was the only 171 AMG. I'll make sure I post it next year and try and get our numbers up - seriously out-gunned by the BMW's and VW. It was a good day out £10 entry per person access to the Abbey, House, Motor Museum all included. Toilet facilities the absolute best I've ever seen at any outdoor event - even orchids in vases by the hand-basins!!!!
