Thanks for joining us with an introduction.

Welcome from the Wirral.

There's plenty of 55 owners on here, so if you have questions post a new thread.

You'll need 15 posts to be able to send private messages (PMs) to anyone but moderators & admin.

We have quite a few members on the NE coast with SLKs and 55s in particular.

An additional thanks for adding your location and vehicle details.

Good luck with your search.

Such a great welcome, thank you all

The info links will be a great help thank you

I had a look and test drive of a 55AMG for sale locally today, I was very impressed with it but there were a few reasons I didn't jump at the first one I saw.
The service history was a little sketchy with no service book present only a computer print with some dealer addresses, mileage and dates and very few receipts to back this up. It was an 2008 facelift I believe with smaller front brakes. I was offered a good deal on the price and 12months warranty/mot with break down cover.
The car is black, but I think I would like to see a silver one in the flesh before deciding.

My last V8 was an E92 M3 which I sold earlier this year to make way for a new Exige 350 Sport. I'm now looking to sell my E46 M3 and get into Mercedes ownership :)

The facelift models started having electronic service records.
You could have a book if you wished, but some owners didn't bother.

Welcome to SLKWorld, enjoy your stay

I purchased my 55 in August and I am not sure if I got a service book (I now need to check) but was provided a full service history from MB which details everything carried out. I guess that is only useful if it is serviced with MB all the time though.

Good luck with the search

Mmm, that's reassuring to hear thanks. I may have a re think on this one...

It's just had a service and new P zero rear tyres fitted and will come with Volkswagaons Das WeltAuto warranty

I suppose the positives for me are it is a face lift model, cheaper front brakes when they need replacing.
A good warranty
Updated media
Display of current gear
New tyres
The wife likes it (always a bonus)
Nice interior

Negatives
Not convinced on black although great when its polished, not so easy to keep clean when it will be my daily car
Mileage -I could possibly get a lower mileage earlier model If i hang out a while

Hard to give an opinion from pictures, but I have a comment on the dealer.

If I'm selling a car for a 5 figure sum you can bet your life I'll detail it first.

Take a look at the inside of the boot?
Was it like that when you saw it?

By the way, did you try the roof and look at the seals?

Check the inside of the rear alloys, they can crack.

Price seems low. That can be good, or bad.

The car was poorly presented to say it was in prime position on the front of the forecourt. The inside of the boot, the cockpit and under the bonnet were all in need of a good valet. Disappointing given the selling price as you say, even the newly fitted tyres had tyre soap all around the rims.
They've just dropped the price from £17995, it was still displayed in the window. They've also just had a buyer drop out as he couldn't get finance or so they say..

I didn't know what to look for until now, thank you for that advice. Everything seem to work fine though

My gut instinct...stay away.

55 owners are know to be detailers.
A dealer should know this.

You need to get familiar with prices and there's a handy list to help view/buy.

If you view a car your serious about get a datcard (need VIN from just under wiper, passenger side):
