Hi Tony, welcome from Barrhead, Scotland.

I have a 171 and have found the Air Scarf is effective up to about 70mph. That together with the heater and heated seats, and I have had the top down at 0 - 2c and been toasty.

We have the air scarf and it is well worth it. My wife loves the idea, especially on cool days. Didn't get the wind deflector that goes between the headrests because I understand that you have to remove it every time you want to put the top up or down. Car basically comes loaded , in Canada at least, so not too many options. I would love to find a decent cat back exhaust to give it a bit more growl but this far no success.

I think Airscarf is one of the options that makes the SLK more enjoyable than other brands.

Chbeaton: The factory wind deflector does not have to be removed to operate the top up or down. However, you might want to remove the wind deflector at night as it does reduce the visibility. Or you can purchase a clear one from one of the forum sponsors and leave it on year round.

Hi Tony, and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

IMHO, Airscarf is a must have for the UK, definitely helps keep you warm on those cooler days, and means you're willing to put the roof down more often (I certainly am). I also have a WindRestrictor (see post above mine) fitted on my R171, and you certainly don't have to remove that once it's fitted - roof up and down, whether it's day or night, and the WindRestrictor stays in place without reducing visibility.

Airscarf, heated seats, and bi-xenon lights would be my recommendation for must-haves (apparently, the standard halogen headlights are quite poor, at least according to others on the forum). You can fit aftermarket HIDs, or different bulbs and readjust them, but I find my bi-xenons excellent.

Hey Welcome!

"must haves" ... As mentionned, Airscarf is really nice, heated seats too.
The Bi-zenon headlights are also a real improvement.

We have the 350 R172 (2013) which I much prefer over the 4 cylinder turbo (exhaust note).

Have fun!

Welcome from Manchester!

I have the airscarf but I'm too short to get the full benefit of it and I refuse to get an adult "booster seat"

That said, I've had no problem driving in sub-zero conditions with the heated seats and blowers.

I spend around 6 months searching before I picked mine and to be honest, most seemed really well spec'd. I'd have liked the two tone leather seats but I had to make compromises somewhere.

Thanks guys I appreciate your recommendations. Looks like air scarf is a must then. I'm hanging out for command online as well.
