Its a windscreen, some say it blocks the wind when the top is down. I never noticed a difference so i don't use one.

There are a couple of different models of the plexiglass windscreen - Mercedes makes one, and there are a few different aftermarket ones.

On the R171 it does make a difference, I've got 'em on both of my SLK's.

I bought a folding roof car to have the wind blowing around my head (I can't say wind in my hair.... :biglaugh: ). With the side windows up it doesn't buffet or get particularly windy IMO even at quite high speed (90+) so I don't have a wind deflector.

Have you tried Windrestrictor (dot com), also a sponsor to this site?

There are four windscreens, as far as I know. OEM plastic (lexan, whatever), OEM mesh (net), the Windrestrictor, and another one that uses velcro straps to hold it against the roll bars. The first two are sold in the SLK Store (link above), and the Windrestrictor is sold by a forum sponsor (link above). The fourth is sold on the interent, and I'm sure you can find it using google.

ok so i may seem dumb, but i was just wondering why the locks on my slk do not work. when i press the button on my key, it wont lock or unlock. but the lights still flash. can anyone tell me if its the key, or if its the car, and possibly how to fix it.

i read the intruction on your hyperlink, and although very helpful, it seems a little too complex for me. should i have it checked out by a pro? or am i just making things harder than they really are....?

If you have money ($100> an hour plus parts) let a pro do it
If your mechanically inclined, its easy
BTW Mercedes does not repair things, they replace them.
