Mercedes E-Class Coupe spotted testing, will rival BMW 6 Series when it's released next year
With the new E-Class saloon and Estate already on sale for a while now, Mercedes is getting its sleek coupe variant ready ahead of a launch next year. It'll compete with the ageing BMW 6 Series when it hits showrooms in 2017.
Previous spy shots showed the two-door E-Class with bulky disguise to hide its shape, but in these latest images there's only the usual swirly wrapping over most of the car - and some sections are completely undisguised.
We can see a shape that follows the same route as the S-Class and C-Class Coupe, with a curvy rear-end and steeply raked windscreen. Down the sides, the car goes without B-pillars, making for a sleeker profile than the saloon.
The new E-Class Coupe will ride on the same platform as the saloon, unlike the previous model that used an older platform than its booted sibling. The rear-wheel-drive architecture should allow for more interior room and a larger boot.
