Just got myself a slk230k amg 1999..its a Japanese import. Everything works well except for the electric fan. Kicks in if I disconnect the Engine cooling sensor (temp sensor) runs at full speed. Once I plug it in.. Fan speed reduces and then dies. It works at times well.. But sometimes the fan doesn't turn on. I've looked at the forum and I'm sure will get some positive response here. I changed the thermostat.. The sensor as well since I was getting a p0115 error. Any thoughts?

What temperature is the engine running at? Around 85 to 95 is perfect.

If its getting hotter is your cooling system sealed properly?

I know a lot of Dubai cars had/have uprated aircon systems there may be some differences on Dubai destined cooling systems but as yours is a Jap import I would expect it to be 'European spec'.

yup, I have no issue with the heating. the engine holds up quite well for a car of its age. my only concern is the fan. when the car is cold the fan runs at full speed.. the moment it reaches operating temp.. it switches off. and at times the fan doesn't run at all. I changed the engine temp sensor and its the same. Anyways will look through the forum and see if I can dig out a solution.

Dubai is hot at the moment... waiting for cooler months to drive with the top down !!! :)

Actually it is.. if I get the fans to run directly (disconnecting the engine temp sensor) and do a random check its just under 80. whereas it creeps up to about 95 and the fans don't kick in at times. which puzzles me at the moment as all fuse are find. maybe I have to check the fan speed module which is something ive skipped.

anyways.. live and learn .
