Hi,

I am Ella with a SLK250 sport which has a glass roof but it is leaking. Mercedes dealer says I have to pay as it is out side the warranty period. It has been fully serviced by Mercedes dealer and only has done 30k miles. first registered in June 2011.
It seems many people have had this problem with SLK 250 so to me it is the manufactures problem.
Any advice???

Hi Newbie

If it has suddenly started leaking at the seals / joints, it could be the rubber has just hardened and is not moulding fully to make the joint now. Instead of going for new seals, you could first try applying a rubber revitaliser - sorry but don't know any US brands but I'm sure your car spares shop will have some.

Regards
Mark

Hi Ella, welcome from Barrhead, Scotland.

A rubber treatment like Gummi Pflege is certainly worth trying on the seals.

+1 for trying Gummi Pflege... You'll find it on Amazon <here>, and details of What to do with it are in Jeff's post above (under "Lube those seals").

Hi Ella

Welcome from the Wirral.

I'd go with cleaning and lubing the seals before panicking.

If you have ever watched the roof in action from the outside you get to see just how easy it is for dirt and grit to get trapped.

From 201 until now is a long time for the seals to go unserviced.

By the way, we have a ladies section too!

Welcome to SLKWorld, enjoy your stay

Hope you get the leak sorted; would expect that it is just a seal which either needs replacing or simply 'lubing'...
