Hello,

Have had a used 2010 SLK350 for almost a year now and it has been great. The only issue I have had is the navigation/command which seems to reboot and go nuts in certain hill locations in California. The navigation now has pretty much died and displays this screen of death (see attached photo). Has anyone seen that before?
My dealer thinks I need a new navigation update but I am skeptical for the system worked at first...

Best,

Good tip. The dealer already updated the command software (guessing that is like a reboot) but it did not fix the issue.

Thanks,

A warm welcome from Southern Arizona. Good to have you on board. Jeff was suggesting the car reboot which involves disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes which has a tendency of fixing a multitude of anomalies. Enjoy the people, the forum, and top down cruisin'.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! Might be a hard drive fail?

I pulled the car from the dealer for it had been sitting there for a week now with no progress on the navigation fix.

Reboot did not work.

Trying to load the 2014 nav disc myself. After 8 tries (guess the DVD head is about to go bad), I got an update screen which seems so show I have nothing currently installed which makes me think that the hard drive either failed or the maps were wiped.

The update failed however with some message to check the manual.
This could be because the drive was zapped or because MB has this strange incremental map update thing and that I need some other updates between 2010 and 2014.

Anyone had a nav hard drive fail?

Thanks,
