Good day,

I'm DrStrangeLug, a computer programmer from Somerset UK. I've joined here because I'm looking to buy a R170 SLK and your forums kept coming up on Google when I asked certain questions.

This would be my first MB as I've mainly been a Vauxhall man . I'm on my third Astra, had a Calibra (loved it) and a selection of other cars.

I've looked at 2 so far.

I looked at a blue one which drove wonderfully but the bodywork had scratch as bumps and the boot lid gaps on both sides were different.

Another blue one had great bodywork but the engine stuttered when accelerating with what I now think is the K40 relay problem. It also lacked a bonnet lift gas strut and looks like it had quite a bit of rewiring done to fit a sound system.

I'm looking at more this weekend.

Good to meet you all.

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Valrico, Florida!

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a datacard (options on your car) free.

Hi , not been on for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd update with details of my search.

Looked at a silver 200K manual and a blue 230K auto . Both drove great , the silver one had a little bit of tin worm (which the seller tried to pass off as aluminium oxidization ) . I nearly bought the blue one . But in my wife & I's current financial situation we'd be better of waiting for a couple of years and spending a little more for a better one.

That was two weeks ago. This week my wife got a promotion and I got a newer better paid job, so the hunt is back on.
