I’m new to the Mercedes world

I bought a flooded
Slc 300 at auction. It doesn’t run or drive. I jacked the vehicle and found a palm size hole in the oil pan towards the front of the engine. I also noticed the timing chain was dangling and what appears to be the oil pump resting on the oil pan moving freely.

im going to remove the engine Shortly and tear her down. I’m going to assume the engine is no good.

Im looking for the cheapest alternative to get her running again. LKQ has one for 5600$, I believe it’s not including shipping either. Maybe rebuilding the engine or get a different engine would be best? I was hoping to get an older year engine or maybe a different Mercedes class engine and install it.

What would be the best way and or money efficient way to tackle this issue?!
Need guidance on this non-friendly DIY brand lol.
