Have just bought 'our' first SLK ... I say 'our' because my 'other half' will be using it as a daily driver and I will be enthusing about it at the weekends. We have had a 2002 230 Kompressor for around two months and it has been fantastic, incredibly well built and reminds me of the classic Saab 900'S I had many years ago ... a Carlsson and a T16S.

We spent a long time searching for an ideal SLK and right from the off specified a 230k. The example we eventually found only had 55.000 miles on the clock with a Full Service History and was also a Designo Edition ... coming with AMG Alloys and heated seats etc ... a must when driving around the icy slick country roads, frozen cow pats and puddles the size of ponds.

I also have a Pick Up so have got deep snow covered. However the SLK will be used in all weather and with rear wheel drive will make for some fantastic moments and some legendary tail happy spins as it zips past Badgers and Hobbits.

I also like the 171 and new 172 models, great styling ... I really think that the 170 will be a future classic with it's innovative vario roof and think that from my entry point as long as we look after it should maintain its value.

all the best ,

Matt

Welcome to SLKWorld.com: The #1 Mercedes-Benz SLK Forum from Florida!

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable or to ‘edit’, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM/edit. You can always pm a moderator.
Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If Iphone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as Iphone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
Want to ‘like’ or thank’ someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any post you like. This saves you having to comment.
New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
FREE!! Post your vin in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on your car). You must update your profile with vehicle info and your location and post an introduction first.

Hi Matt, and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us and posting an intro! :)

We have quite a few members in the UK that like to meet up from time to time, although things are a little quieter during the winter months. If you're interested in joining us sometime, just keep an eye on the UK Region section, as we post meeting plans there! :tu:

There's a summary post that I maintain for all UK meets here, and links to examples and pictures from this year's past meets are available here.

Finally, we also recently started plotting where our UK members are - check out the thread for that here: SLKWorld UK & Ireland Members and Meeting Points Map

Thank you

Hi Matt,

Welcome from the shire of 'Che'. You might say the other end of the canal :D

A few of us are heading into Oswestry next Sunday for a morning car meet (multiple marques), if you fancy catching up.
http://www.slkworld.com/united-kingdom-region/376745-oswestry-meet-18th-december-2016-a.html

We're just turning up individually as each car is coming in from a different direction.

Failing that we have SLK only Donington brekky meets. A great place to go for first timers.
Last one gives an idea. Plenty of all year SLKers around.

A big bunch heading to Scotland for a break in the spring, but we do other weekends throughout the year:

Knowing our two Shires variable weather, you really should check out the SmartTop links.

From ... Chestershire ... you are very lucky indeed. The Romans did a terrific job of the roads around your neck of the woods .....

Appreciate the dates and invitations and will certainly look to attend at some point, but really manic work-wise at present ... I can see a clearing around March hehehehe

We do a couple of lunches Cheshire way.

March is a month I'm looking at.

Small numbers for those. Easy way into the meets.
Last years.
