Hello,

I'm new to this forum. I wanted to share that my dad left behind a 2001 SLK 320. He really loved this car, always garaged kept. I'm debating if I should sell it or keep it. I'm asking because I really don't know too much about this car but he's only trusted me to drive it. It's got 140K is all I know. I have it my possession, I drive it, put the top down and enjoy the 6 spd very much. Seems to still be in good condition. If I may ask, are these cars expensive to maintain? Is there some sort of checklist to go over at a certain miles? As I mentioned, he took good care of it, he tells me when its in the shop but I don't know whats been done. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Welcome from Wirral, England.

First please update your location and vehicle
(Put Looking!)(year?: 1996-2017, model?: 32, 200, 230, 250, 280, 300,320,350,55)
in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
This takes about 30 seconds to do.

Follow exactly to update:
‘Usercp’ at the top of page,
then ‘edit your details’ on the left side,
‘additional information’ near the bottom,
edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’.
Info in your garage does not update your profile.

The reason that we ask you to update vehicle/location details
is to save repeating the same information every time that you ask a question.

Also, this site is truly worldwide. That can matter when you ask for help and information.

Are you looking for a bonnet, or a hood, a boot, or a trunk? Makes a difference.

Driving on the left, or the right?

Welcome to the Forum, I'm in north OC, just down the street really from Hi Line (top MB only shop).

Dealer work isn't cheap, not scary expensive for most things, but as cars age dealers often fix by replacing whole assemblies and that can be $$$.

Not so much at independants, but its not a Honda Civic.

My first stop with a new to me car is with a trusted mechanic for an inspection, ideally before purchase.

Hi and welcome from North Wales.
Enjoy the SLK320 it is a good solid car. Most good garages can carry out servicing and repairs on these cars as they share running gear with many other Mercedes models so no shortage of experience. For you to do are things like keeping drain channels clean and lubricating door and roof rubber seals (search this site for specific details). If any difficult problems arrise them come back on here and ask for advise :tu:
