Hi,I have recently acquired an SLK 250 CDI .Its about 2 1/2 years old.Overall very pleased with it so far, particularly fuel consumption - done around 2000 miles and have averaged 49.8 mpg.The problem I have is that I`m thinking about being away for 3 months this Winter. Is there anything in particular I need to do to the car before I go ? Its stored in a well insulated ( but unheated ) garage.Do I need to worry about flat spots on the tires or flat batteries ? Any tips welcome .Thanks.

Hi and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us! :)

As Jeff says, this has been covered many times on the forum, and as you read through the threads in the search he shared with you, you'll probably find that different people may have different opinions on what is 'best practice' when leaving a car unused for an extended period.

One thing is for certain though, you will need to take steps to preserve your battery condition for that length of time, and I know that a number of people successfully use battery tenders / CTEK to keep your battery in tip top condition.

On a different subject, we have quite a few members in the UK that like to meet up from time to time. If you're interested in joining us sometime, just keep an eye on the UK Region section, as we post meeting plans there! :tu:

There's a summary post that I maintain for all UK meets here, and links to examples and pictures from this year's past meets are available here.

Finally, we've also just started plotting where our UK members are - check out the thread for that here: SLKWorld UK Members and Meeting Points Map

Welcome from North Hampshire - I use a CTEK charger to stop the battery going flat (& damaging it..) during the winter:
